Basics of Wellhead Control Panel (WHCP)

Due to the high pressure of fluid (oil and gas) inside the wells, the use of well control systems called Well-Head Control Panels (WHCP) is very essential to control the pressure and maintain the safety in emergencies.

The main tasks of WHCP’s include opening and closing the surface valves (SSV), sub-surface valves (SSSV) valves, oil and gas wells operation valve (WV), and creating a pressure line for pressure sensors and fusible plugs which will act during emergency situations or at the command of operator.

Due to the hydraulic function of valves, it is necessary to open and close them hydraulically.

Also, to increase the safety and stability of the system, the control process is done pneumatically.
